Inhalt: (1) Autoantigene der Zelloberfläche im zentralen (ZNS) und peripheren Nervensystem (PNS): Struktur, Lokalisation und Funktion; Glykolipide; (Glyko-)Proteine. (2) Autoimmunerkrankungen des Nervensystems: Zelloberflächen-Antigene als molekulare Angriffsziele für autoreaktive T-Zellen und Antikörper; T-Zell-mediierte entzündliche Entmarkungserkrankungen des ZNS und PNS (multiple Sklerose, Guillain-Barré Syndrom); Antikörper-mediierte Erkrankungen der motorischen Endplatte (z.B. Myasthenia gravis). (3) Pathogenetische Relevanz von Autoimmunreaktionen gegen Nervensystem-Antigene: Tiermodelle (z.B. experimentell-allergische Enzephalomyelitis); zelluläre und Antikörper-abhängige Mechanismen der Gewebs-Zerstörung; Immuntherapie. (4) Herkunft von Immunreaktionen gegen Strukturen des Nervensystems: "Molecular mimicry" zwischen Fremd-Antigenen und Autoantigenen als mögliche Ursache für Immunangriffe gegen das Nervensystem (z.B. Guillain-Barré Syndrom nach Campylobacter jejuni-Infektion).
