Participants

The Biomedical Semantic Web project was initiated by Matthias Samwald with the intent of popularizing the use of semantic web technology in biomedicine, biology and related disciplines.

The Semantic Synapse Project is the first sub-project that has sprung from these efforts. Participants of this project are Matthias Samwald, Marcel Schwarz and Isabella Hinterleitner. Matthias Samwald works on the project as part of his doctoral thesis, Marcel Schwarz and Isabella Hinterleitner work on the project as part of their master theses. All of the theses are supervised by  Prof. Klaus-Peter Adlassnig (Section on Medical Expert and Knowledge-Based Systems, Medical University of Vienna).

 

A prototype of the Semantic Synapse Portal was programmed by a group of students as a part of a university programming course. The participants were:
